    Acquired Taste –

1968 was an exciting time to be alive and an equally exciting time to be a musician. I was eighteen, enthusiastic, and impressionable when I entered my first recording studio in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I was hired to do jingles and voice segments for radio adds. Although I had been singing since the day I was born, I had never experienced the thrill of being a working musician and certainly never considered to be a STUDIO MUSICIAN. This simple action coupled with my enthusiastic and impressionable state of mind colored my world forever! Since then a lifetime has come and gone as I have stayed the course and frequented many a recording studio.

The trials and tribulations of mentoring teens!

    Mentoring Meaghan –

I find that when mentoring a student many avenues of success presents themselves along the journey. Some are immediately embraced while others wait on right timing. Although, the one aspect of mentoring that you can depend on is that every mentoring experience will present its own individual story.

Mentoring Meaghan has proved to be an exhilarating journey through winding paths of creative expression and song. I the mentor while she the student, does not always apply. Very often, within a moments notice, she becomes all the wiser as I graciously receive.

I am excited to be on this delightful adventure with her and anticipate a fun-filled creative experience.

Youth mentoring has become a cornerstone within community in providing guidance, support, and sharing of knowledge. Current research suggests that the overarching effect of mentoring today’s youth is the opportunities it presents in establishing positive building blocks towards choices for the future. These building blocks are inclusive of better communication skills, abilities to build positive and lasting relationships, improved social values, spiked interest in education, as well as a better chance of pursuing higher education.

    Hear Ye Hear Ye
Let it be known to all
    Hidden deep within plain sight
United in the spirit of imagination
    Bound together by creativity
Woven throughout the treads of time
Exists an age-old tribe known as…The Artist

I love to sing! I have always loved singing. My entire identity and lifetime of events are all wrapped around the act of singing. It’s like breathing to me, an automatic response that is required for survival.

I embrace the desire to create songs and stories. My soul finds peace in the capturing of a feeling or thought and securing its proper place in this reality. Sure it takes time but in my life, it is time well spent.

It has been my experience that when kids are given the opportunity to be creative, self-expression will take its place in the forefront and all becomes well with the world. DSC_0089

When I first met Pamela it was not in regards to music but nonetheless within an hour’s time she ended up in my (home) studio entranced with creating songs and sounds. As an artist, it is easy to recognize creative qualities in other individuals and that is exactly what happened when Pamela entered into my world of music.

As a singer/songwriter I find creative inspiration to be a strange phenomenon. Sometimes you have a creative idea or a particular subject matter that you work on and other times, creative impulse grabs a hold of you and your life comes to a complete halt until you allow it to manifest through your particular form of expression.

I had been actively involved in the creation of a Bluegrass/Country music project. Shortly after meeting Pamela, while driving across the state of Florida, this sweet gospel melody entered my mind. My first thought was …where did that come from, my second thought was… this is a song for Pamela, and my third thought was… thank-you!

After teaching the song to Pamela, we began the process of recording at Saturn Sound Studio, LLC in West Palm Beach Florida. We also had back-up vocal tracks added to the recording by her brother Matthew. The material was then sent to Rocking Horse Studio in Pittsfield, New Hampshire where three additional back-up vocalists Isabelle Couture, Anna Lyons & Hannah Wagley were added as well.

This project was such a pleasure from beginning to end and I can honestly say that it was a “Great Success”.

Where mountain spells are cast upon a rainbow’s promise
I plant my soul in the richness of natural existence
Where wise old trees come alive to dance in a full moon’s light
I sing a song of bliss
Where natures four seasons encounter earth’s four directions
I become one with all the kingdoms
Where brothers and sisters alike equal family and friends forever
I give the bond of true love
Where motto befalls salutations that suggest live free or die
I fly my inner flag of freedom
When home is where the heart is
I am undoubtedly found… in New Hampshire!
